US 79 – CR 110 Intersection Update

The installation of the traffic lights and construction of the new intersection at US 79 and CR 110 was supposed to be starting in February. That has obviously been delayed, but how long? The intersection has not been any safer than before and traffic is only getting busier!

I recently learned that the setback has been caused by a delay in getting the mast arms for the traffic lights. Currently they are scheduled for delivery in mid-June and will hopefully be installed at that time. The contractor is scheduled to begin work on the site in early May so they are ready to install the poles and arms when they are delivered. The contractor will also coordinate with the power so it will be in place and ready to go at that time also.

In the meantime, what exactly is the intersection going to look like? I have been able to obtain a schematic for the intersection from the planners at TxDOT. The intersection should be a huge improvement in safety and traffic flow at US 79 and I am excited for the work to be completed!
