Old Settlers Extension – Development Update

Round Rock has been working on plans for the extension of Old Settlers Blvd from Red Bud Lane for a long time and we are now one step closer to start construction. The current project will extend Old Settlers from Red Bud Lane to CR 110 but future plans include an eventual extension all of the way to the 130 Toll Road. What do we know about the current project?

Timeline

Construction on the Old Settlers extension should officially begin in Spring 2024 and should take approximately 2 years to complete. Currently, the City of Round Rock is still working on obtaining all of the needed right-of-ways while the utility companies are finishing with moving the existing lines and wires. “Obtaining right-of-ways” means they are negotiating with current landowners for the purchase of the land on which the extension will be constructed. There is no timeline for construction of the road through to Toll 130 as it is not covered by existing bond funds.

Plans

The City of Round Rock has released an updated version of their plans for the Old Settlers Extension (you can find the plans HERE) and there are a few important notes.

  • There are two lanes each direction for the duration of the extension
  • Pedestrian sidewalks have been included on both sides of the road.
  • There is a proposed corridor fence on the north and south sides of the road on the border of the Siena community and next to the current playground and basketball court.
  • The Porano Cirlce and CR 110 intersection will be closed to anything but emergency service traffic.
  • There WILL NOT be a traffic light at the intersection of Porano Cirlce and Old Settlers but I have asked about adding a pedestrian crossing signal.
  • The designated speed limit for Old Settlers will be 45 MPH.

I’ll be watching closely this project and will keep the community of Siena updates as more information come available. If you have any questions abou this project, other developments around our community, real estate questions or anything else I can help you with, please let me know and I’d be honored to help.

So how are the people that live on Porano Circle suppose to get out? Never seen three lanes of traffic clear so a person can turn left.
