Shen Yun presents a performance of traditional Chinese dance and music that is both instructive and entertaining, transporting audiences back to the period when ancient culture flourished. A non-profit organisation with spiritual roots, it is banned in modern China, however it continues to take the rest of the world by storm.

Opening in January, the West End production of Pretty Woman is an exciting new take on the classic film. In a glittering and glamorous setting, Vivian Ward will be played by a younger, more modern Olivia Valli. This adaptation follows the film’s storyline closely with the original characters returning from the 1990 classic.

Noah Kahan’s emergence into the pop music scene has been nothing short of spectacular. Austin Opera is proud to present Sweeney Todd, a new version of the classic story of revenge and redemption. Todd sings with his barber-shop crew in Victorian London, takes a wife and raises his one-year-old daughter. When a customer asks him to “cut” her throat, he sets out on a bloody path of murder.

Free Week is a concert and party event occurring during the month of January in Austin, Texas, and other cities around the country. Holding its roots back to 2003, Free Week served as a way to keep performances and live music going at clubs and venues during a time when the city’s liveliness starts to die down (the beginning of January, one of the coldest points of winter). And now, it stretches from Austin to Nashville, bringing in thousands of attendees eager to hear great music for free.

The 3M Half Marathon is a fun experience for everyone within the Austin community. Passing some of Austin’s most popular locations and landmarks on a 13.1-mile course, this race is perfect to run alone or with friends and family because it is considered to have one of the fastest courses in the country.

The Austin Area Heritage Council is hosting its annual MLK Day celebration on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year. There will be a rally and walk starting from the MLK statue on the University of Texas campus, where you can celebrate Dr. King’s legacy with other members of your community.
